We’re a Bunch of Misfits

Isaac, with his stubborn will and OCD tendencies, has challenged and stretched us in every way. He is a humbling reminder that even after six kids we still have not figured all of this out.
.
However, with the proper perspective, we’re learning to fall in love with all of his personality quirks.
.
In fact, as difficult and inconvenient as it may be, his traits will actually be extremely beneficial in life – his energy, independence, and determination, for example.
.
Isn’t it funny how we might describe “good kids” as those who are calm, obedient, and compliant? Instead, we’re learning to love the misfits!
.
We’re doing our very best to care for our children as they develop and grow. Not seeking to break their will, but to guard their hearts. To value who they are now, not a future version of themselves.
.
“I don’t think anyone can grow unless he’s loved exactly as he is now, appreciated for what he is rather than what he will be.” – Mr. Rogers
