Hope in Imagination

It might have been the magic of the sunset over the west coast or it might have been the privilege to run freely up and down the hills, but Signal Hill in Los Angeles fully captured our imaginations. There, we learned about the lay of the land and it’s history throughout the ages. It was aptly named due to the Tongva Indians’ use of the hill for signal fires that could be seen from up to 26 miles away.
.
Given some time to just soak up the scenery, we all shared moments of what must have been the similar feelings of hope as those of the voyagers who first set sights from atop this very hill looking outward upon the vast land before them.
.
Left to our thoughts, we believe hope is where imagination must arise from. If this is true, then in order for imagination to faithfully flourish, we must take measures to see the world through eyes filled with hope. Helen Keller says it well, “Hope sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible.”
.
In our family, love is the cornerstone of hope’s foundation and hope gives birth to imagination and imagination is the story that plays out our lives.
.
When was the last time that a place like Signal Hill so captured your imagination?
