Why Kuala Lumpur?
.
We are asked this question quite frequently, and we are always more than happy to share what lead us to move our family of eight to KL.
.
This time last year, we knew we were ready for a family adventure in SE Asia, but we had yet to land on a spot. So, Jacob and I set off on a tour of Asia to visit several countries and get a feel for our surroundings.
.
We first took a trip to India, and it was there that we met @hertizonical and @lindseyalberson. They shared with us that Kuala Lumpur had been on their hearts for many years and threw out the invite to join them.
.
If we are being honest, we didn’t know much about Malaysia ?? at the time, but we were excited to learn more. As the days and weeks went on, the thought began to settle into our hearts as well.
.
You see, as a world schooling family, KL is quite a strategic place for us to make home-base.
.
KL has become a wonderful centerpiece to Southeast Asia, a “hotpot” mix of culture, language, food, and beautiful people. From India to Indonesia, from China to Malaysia, and everywhere in-between, they all seem to converge on Kuala Lumpur. This is perfect for us as one of the goals of world schooling is to integrate into and learn from other cultures and peoples.
.
Malaysia is a magical place waiting to be discovered. From urban jungle ? to thick rainforest ?, from ominous highlands ⛰ to white sandy beaches ?, this place has everything. But it is also conveniently located geographically for easy access to many other places across Southeast Asia with a quick direct flight with @airasia. We already plan to visit Myanmar ?? and Bali ?? this year.
.
What are some other spots around SE Asia that we should visit?
